Welcome to our continuing CPIM series, DSP - Detailed Scheduling & Planning
which is third in the five part CPIM certification program.
Through our recent review of MPR, we now understand how demand drives the Sales & Operations Plan (production by families) and then the Master Schedule (production by end item).
The focus of DSP is to now move into the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) role
which is one level down from the MPS. Do you remember our famous hierarchy?
The exam has 75 questions, divided approximately as follows:
Candidates focus on the various techniques for material and capacity scheduling.
The course includes detailed descriptions of material requirements planning (MRP),
capacity requirements planning (CRP), inventory management practices,
and procurement and supplier planning.
