Programme Description

 

The MBA Solvay is designed to equip its participants with a full set of skills and the knowledge with which to face a competitive and fast-moving world. To achieve this, they follow a very intensive and highly demanding programme in order to gain a firm practical understanding of the management trends that make a difference at an international level.

The MBA Solvay is a part-time programme offered in English. It's designed to be completed within one or two academic years.

 

2-Year Programme

Degree requirement

 

MBA Solvay is a programme resting on 4 pillars:

 

1. ACADEMIC PILLAR comprising courses organized into 5 competencies:

 

  • Accounting, Control & Resource Management
  • The Entrepreneurial Manager
  • The Financial Manager - The Global Economy
  • The Global Economy
  • The Efficicient and Responsible Organization

 

Each area consists in core courses and electives courses

 

  • CORE COURSES for the equivalent of 33 ECTS
  • ELECTIVE COURSES for the equivalent of 18 ECTS (2-year programme) and 12 ECTS (1-year programme)

 

2. INTEGRATIVE PILLAR for the equivalent of 5 ECTS or 9 ECTS 

 

  • International Business Field Project

  • Applied Corporate Strategy Seminar

 

3. PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PILLAR (PPD) for the equivalent of 9 ECTS

4. CAREER ADVANCEMENT PROGRAMME AND CORPORATE RELATIONS PILLAR (CAPCO)
The courses entail 24 hours of class work in addition to the corresponding preparation (readings, case studies and projects).

The International Business Field Project (IBFP) is a strategic, organisational or operational consultancy project which addresses real needs of your business. It is carried out by a team of MBA Solvay participants in a provider-client relationship, under the supervision of dedicated faculty and experienced professional consultants. The team takes advantage of the latest tools and techniques to provide you with a professional end product.

 

This project brings immediate value to your business with:

Faculty

 

The MBA Solvay Faculty are both renowned international academics and business practitioners. The Faculty is recognized for its state-of-the-art business expertise offering continual challenge and initiating new ideas and perspectives through active participation, class interaction and rigorous coursework.

 

Business is nothing if not international. This is reflected in the stimulating mix of nationalities and experience found in the Solvay MBA faculty. They bring a unique set of skills to the programme, providing students with fresh viewpoints and the specialist skills to put them to good use.

 

Admissions

 

Applications for the intake 2013/14 to the MBA Solvay programme are open on a rolling basis, until September 6th, 2013. Candidates requiring a VISA for staying in Belgium are advised to start the application process as soon as possible and to submit it not later than August 30th, 2013.

The MBA academic year starts Early  October, with a preparatory course in Math, Statistics and Finance taking place the two weeks before the beginning of the academic year.

 

Admission Requirements

 

MBA Solvay follows a strict admission policy to ensure a constant standard of high calibre participants.

 

Applicants are required:

 

  • to have significant and valuable work experience;
  • an outstanding academic record (Maste level);
  • proficiency in business English;
  • a desire to work in an international environment and openness for diversity;
  • professional ambition;
  • leadership skills and diligence, coupled with the ability to work under stress.

 

We aim to create a community of participants that would contribute to the diversity and uniqueness of the MBA programme. Therefore, the Admission Committee will meticulously examine the biographical and academic background informationGMAT score, achievements, awards and honours, employment history, and letters of recommendation.

5. GMAT score* (code F5D-MR-2) or GRE score (code 7298) or On-Campus Assessment (only for candidates residing in Benelux)

7. Evidence of at least 3 years of work experience.

Application Procedure

 

All applications have to be fulfilled using our online application tool. Admissions are considered on a rolling basis. However, it is advisable to send your application as soon as possible for various reasons. First of all, availability within the next class is limited. However, applications will not be processed until all required documents have reached us.

 

 

If you are not a resident in Belgium, you might need a visa or there may be certain administrative formalities that take time to complete. You should apply as soon as possible, especially if you are not an EU citizen, as the student visa procedure might take a few weeks or even a few months depending on your country of origin.

 

 

The GMAT, or the GRE, is compulsory. We require a promising GMAT scoreAdmission with a GMAT score below 550 is unlikely. In exceptional cases, outstanding academic credentials, unique work experience, or other relevant information may compensate for a lower GMAT score.

 

Admission Committee reserves the right to invite candidates with a valid GMAT/GRE score for an Interview with Admission Committee and/or Alumni.

 

On-Campus Assessment is compulsory for candidates who do not have GMAT/GRE score (within the last 3 years) but is not applicable for those candidates living and applying from outside Benelux.

 

Application deadline: 30 August, 2013 for foreign candidates and 6th September for locals.
